About Us
Dentists who listen, so you get the best care for you.
Our Mission
To provide you with the highest quality dental care, which always starts with listening to you.
Dr. Marissa Ryan is thrilled to be joined by Dr. Lydia Stegemann to form Ryan Dental Partners. We can’t wait to welcome you and your family to our new office at 280 Gannett Drive in South Portland.
Earning your trust is key, which means we will always listen carefully first, providing clear and respectful answers to your questions before we begin – and every step along the way. We are deeply committed to providing treatment of the highest quality, nothing less.
We offer a full set of services to help you maintain your great smile.
This means not only providing the highest quality preventative care, but making sure we detect potential problems early, so we can reduce the risk of needing more extensive – and often expensive – treatment in the future. Catching things early keeps the cost (in time and money) to a minimum. We are experts in:
General & Preventative Dentistry
Cleanings/Hygiene: Receiving regular cleanings by one of our skilled hygienists is critical to maintaining your optimum oral health. It allows us to catch early stages of gum disease and clean any plaque and tartar that you are missing at home. We recommend getting a cleaning every 6 months, 3-4 times a year for those at higher risk for gum disease or cavities.
Scaling and root planing: Deep cleaning therapy is used to treat periodontal (gum) disease and bone loss. It is our goal to stabilize your gum health and protect the gums and bone that are the foundation of your teeth.
X-rays and Exams: We take digital x-rays on a yearly basis in accordance with ADA guidelines. X-rays allow us to see if there are any areas where cavities are developing, look at bone level and assess for periodontal disease, and visualize any other pathology. Regular x-rays help us catch problems early and minimize the extent of the treatment you may need. Exams occur regularly as part of your cleaning and recall visit. This is a personalized time with the dentist to discuss any concerns you may have.
Sealants, Fluoride, Oral hygiene instruction: We offer lots of preventative therapy to minimize your risk of developing cavities (caries) and gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis). This is the easiest way for you to avoid more extensive and expensive treatment. We provide preventative services to pediatric through geriatric aged patients to ensure a lifetime of good oral health and comfort.
Nightguards/Occlusal Splints: If you are someone who clenches or grinds their teeth, experiences significant stress, has tooth wear or tooth fractures, or has jaw pain and soreness, you may be a candidate for a nightguard. This is a comfortable appliance worn at night to help relax your jaw and protect your teeth. Each appliance is custom made and specific to your jaw and tooth positioning.
Restorative Dentistry
It is our goal to restore your teeth back to their optimum health and function. Often this is through a restorative procedure including: fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, removable dentures and partials and more.
Our doctors and staff will ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure and understand thoroughly the rationale behind the needed treatment and steps involved in the process. We create a personalized comprehensive treatment plan for your specific needs.
Cosmetic Dentistry
We offer a variety of treatment options that we tailor to your specific dental needs and goals. Ultimately, we want you to be happy and confident with the esthetics of your smile. We offer:
Whitening: We offer at-home bleaching with custom tray fabrication through the Ultradent bleaching system.
Composite bonding: This is a tooth-colored resin composite that adheres directly to your teeth, can be completed in one visit, and often requires little to no removal of tooth structure.
Porcelain veneers: These are used to alter the color and shape of your teeth by covering the front surface of your teeth with thin layer of porcelain. Veneers are an attractive option to improve esthetics while being more conservative than a full crown and requiring very little removal of tooth structure.
All porcelain/ceramic crowns: Repairing more significantly fractured or worn teeth in the front, in order to improve esthetics and function, can often be accomplished with all ceramic crowns. We will work closely with you to give you the smile (and confidence) you desire by matching the shade, texture, and quality of your natural teeth.
Implant Dentistry
Implants are a predictable long-term option for replacing missing teeth. Depending on the number and position of missing teeth, there can be a variety of effects on the whole mouth, such as drifting of remaining teeth, changes in your bite, tooth wear and possible fracture, and lessened ability to chew and function correctly.
We will help determine if implants are a good solution for you by assessing bone quantity and quality, gum health, medical conditions, etc. — all of which affect the success of an implant. If we determine you are a good candidate for implant placement, we will work closely with our trusted specialists in order to achieve the most ideal outcome and we will provide you with a lasting restoration that will feel and function more naturally than a denture or partial.
Reach out to our team with any specific service questions and we will be sure to get back to you right away.
